Dear Madam
Danny is a very pleasant, well - mannered, helpful young man. We felt at ease with him immediately when we picked him up from the college nearly 2 weeks ago. He, along with the rest of the group, were tired from the flight to Australia, but, at the same time, excited to start their adventure here.
On his first night here, he gave us a photo of his parents to keep. None of our previous students or teachers have done this before.
He is very organized - he is always the first one to wake up, making sure that his mates get up, after which, they plan their day, while enjoying some Australian breakfast.
Danny really enjoys college, coming home and telling us about his day, and what was in store for the next day. He, like the rest of yours students, is very polite, asking what they can do to help. They all make their bed & tidy their rooms, and help clean up after the evening meal (pity more Aussie kids don’t follow their example).
We have made friends with a Possum (a wild Australian native animal), for which we put out old vegetable scraps & fresh apple or banana (urban sprawl & dwindling habitat are forcing them to seek food from humans). Danny, along with number of your students, managed to pat the animal & take a number of photos of it.
On one occasion, Dianne was talking to Danny in his room about the day, and he started to sing - he said that he was very happy & having a nice time here in Brisbane. We really enjoy having all the students call us Mum & Dad - our kids have all moved out, so it was nice to have a full house again, especially when the 3 girls came over from Mary’s house (our neighbor) to spend time with them all.
We are sure that Danny will grow into a mature and responsible young man with great values. We are sure that he will, along the rest of his mates, be a valuable employee - he has a great future in front of him.
Kind regards,
Jim Symes & Dianne Riley
